At our first bargaining session on Tuesday, management proposed restrictions that would severely limit postdocs’ access to essential discussions about contract negotiations.
Princeton management wants us to request leave from our advisors to attend sessions, limit the number of postdoc observers able to attend sessions to a maximum of 5, and for us to provide a list of observer names with 72 hours advance notice. They even want to restrict us from talking to the media about our contract negotiations.
We know from other postdoc unions’ experiences that keeping bargaining sessions open to members is essential for participation, transparency, and building power to make real improvements. If you support maintaining postdocs’ right to observe bargaining sessions without management’s unreasonable restrictions, sign our petition for open bargaining and attend Monday’s Bargaining Town Hall to discuss our next steps.
