Though the research funding freeze and NIH cuts have been temporarily halted, the Trump administration’s compliance with court orders is uncertain. Publicly funded research will continue to be under attack. This Wednesday, February 19th, academic workers across the country will take part in a national day of action to defend publicly funded research in the United States.
As part of the day of action, higher ed workers in New Jersey are rallying at 12pm at the Life Sciences Building Atrium on the Rutgers University Busch Campus in New Brunswick (145 Bevier Road).

The Trump administration is attacking both the public good and researchers’ livelihoods by attempting to slash NIH “indirect” funding for crucial research infrastructure, freezing funding for vital research, attacking support for broadening participation in science, and much more. If allowed to proceed, these cuts could cost universities in the area hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding and put tens of thousands of jobs at risk.
