RSVP to our Bargaining Update Town Hall on Monday, 11/4 at 12pm!
We had our first scheduled bargaining session with Princeton management today. About a dozen postdocs came to the session intending to observe. We intended to begin negotiations by presenting our Initial Bargaining Goals and a number of proposals on non-economic issues. However, admin refused to enter the room to negotiate with these observers present.
Management proposed ground rules that would restrict how many of us would be able to observe bargaining sessions. Postdocs at Columbia, Mt. Sinai, Harvard, Caltech, USC, the University of California, the University of Washington, and other institutions have all bargained productively without unreasonable limits on postdoc observers.
Allowing postdocs beyond the Bargaining Committee to observe bargaining sessions makes the process more open and transparent. We are disappointed that we were not able to begin negotiations on issues that are urgent to researchers at Princeton due to the fact that management refused to have any discussion with the group of observers present.
Postdocs will hold a Bargaining Updates Town Hall meeting next Monday, November 4 at 12pm in 120 Lewis Library to discuss these updates and our next steps. RSVP here to attend!
We will also be holding an organizing committee meeting today, October 29, at 4pm in PNI 159 to begin discussing next steps to bring management to the bargaining table.
