Voting starts tomorrow in our historic union election.

We’ve been talking about forming a union for more than a year now! We’ve had hundreds of one-on-one conversations with our colleagues across departments, hosted public town halls and information sessions, and heard from unionized postdocs at nearby universities. We are proud of the unprecedented participation by Princeton postdocs in this process, and the positive conversation we have established about the value of our work as researchers. We’re excited for the opportunity to continue this conversation through postdoc-led collective bargaining.

The Princeton administration has sent us plenty of information about unionization. Some of their emails have been somewhat misleading, though a recent email actually highlighted the benefits of unionization. You can see even more of the gains made by postdocs at peer institutions here. Our reasons for voting “yes” have not changed, and we are excited to take this critical next step toward joining over 100,000 academic workers in the UAW across the country. If you have any remaining questions, please take a look at our side-by-side response to Princeton’s FAQ.

We encourage everyone to participate in our election and we will see you out on campus over the next two days. Voting times and locations are below and on our website, and remember to bring your Princeton ID or a government photo ID.
